Did Bob Dylan found this remote Windmill in La Mola Formentera and made it his home in the sixties? Some say it’s a myth. It is said that he found inspiration and peace in this spiritual retreat after his motorcycle accident that influenced his song writing.

The Island is also where Chris Rea is said to have been inspired to compose his hit “On the Beach” while he was earning some cash by singing in the few bars and hotels in Formentera.
If you’re well-schooled in rock and roll you’ll recognise the windmill’s silhouette from the cover of Pink Floyd’s More album.
We smile and smile
We smile and smile
Laughter echoes in your eyes
We climb and climb
We climb and climb
Footfalls softly in the pines
We cry and cry
We cry and cry
Sadness passes in a while
We roll and roll
We roll and roll
Help me roll away the stone
Forever in my dreams my heart will be
Hanging on to this sweet memory
A day of strange desire
And a night that burned like fire
Take me back to the place that I know
On the beach
